About Homes for Sale in The Mountain

Hot Springs Village is nestled in the 26,000-acre Ouachita Mountains. As resort communities go, this one has got to be one of the most affordable since you can buy a property in the area for as little as $150,000.

The gated community is divided into sections: The Mountain, West Village, Cortez Highlands, The Foothills, Village Center, Coronado, SoBo, East Village, and Glazy Peau.

All of these neighborhoods have access to the nine championship golf courses, 12 lakes, 16 tennis courts, three swimming pools and one indoor pool, and mountain trails that stretch for miles and miles.

The Hot Springs Village hugs the Ouachita Mountains. It’s a Choctaw term which is roughly translated as the “country of large buffaloes” referring to the point of history when the area was a natural trail of herding and migrating buffalos. This also made it a prime location for hunting for nomadic tribes.

So you see, you are literally stepping foot in history. You can just imagine the original native inhabitants braving the dangers of thick forests and slippery footpaths in order to follow a herd of buffalo so they can bring food home.

The woods are not as thick as today, and you now see a bigger footprint dedicated to golf courses but the nature trails are still something to behold. You can walk through them so many times and still find something new every day.

Its Own Ecosystem

Hugging the historic mountain, with gentle rustling trees all around, and the unparalleled view, you may think that you’re isolated in paradise. But you are just half an hour away by commute from downtown Hot Springs. However, step into the village and it’s like stepping into another world.

In fact, you can probably stay within the safe confines of the village and you wouldn’t miss a thing. The community even has its own police and fire department. Two school districts are just a few minutes away, along with hospitals. An ambulance service is on standby for emergencies.

Potable water is available 24/7 while roads leading to the village as well as interior streets are well-paved. Finally, garbage is picked up on a regular schedule.

The Mountain Neighborhood

As the name suggests, this neighborhood within the Hot Springs Village is positioned at the highest elevation of the whole community. The views from up there are unmatched as you can literally have an unobstructed vision of the Ouachita Mountains.

Building a home in this neck of the woods means you will be surrounded by beautiful forest. You have literally the world as your backyard. Miles upon miles of trails are there to be explored at your leisure. You can go mountain biking and enjoy the great outdoors.

When you live in the neighborhood, your children will hardly miss the TV and their gadgets because they have the world as their playground.

You also have a lot of rich wildlife literally in your backyard. Squirrels abound, also bucks and deer. You may occasionally spot a fox or two. However, there are little to no predators here that can be a danger to humans so the natural trails are very safe even for kids.

Here at the top of the village, you will have an unobstructed view of the Lake Logo, one of the 12 lakes in the community, and a 360-degree view of the mountains.

You will find cabins and two-story houses in The Mountain neighborhood, all the more to enjoy the view. There’s nothing like waking up in the morning sipping coffee in your balcony as you take in the view. Even if you really listen, you can hardly hear traffic.

Arkansas is a hot state but the temperature in The Mountain is several degrees lower so you enjoy temperate weather most of the year.

What to Do in The Mountain

Hot Springs Village is known all over the country for its golf courses. In fact, that’s one of the main attractions for most of the residents in the area. You can practice your drives or your putts in the nine golf courses in the community.

The lakes also have plenty of water activities that you can do such as water skiing, kayaking, boating, and rafting. More than the country clubs, the water is where the neighbors gather. Get to know your neighbors and allow your kids to find new sets of friends. If golfing is not your sport, then it may be a good time to learn.  It would be a shame to waste all that luxury if you don’t take up golf. But there are also tennis courts all around the community if that’s your thing.

The Mountain is just 35 minutes away from the Hot Springs National Park and the trip going there is an adventure in itself. You will have a breathtaking drive along narrow roads while surrounded by mountains. It’s best you roll down the window while driving so you can take in the cool breeze.

The Ouachita National Forest is just under two hours away. You can go hiking, biking, camping, fishing, and hunting in the protected area.

If you like a change of pace, you are just half an hour away from the Magic Springs & Crystal Falls Theme Park. But there are also activities for kids like the carousel, Krazy Kars, Bugga Booga Wheel, Li’l Leapin’ Lizards, and Kit ‘n Kaboodle Express. There’s a huge waterpark where you can soak to ward off the summer heat.

Living in The Mountain is literally an escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Hot Springs. It’s a good investment to purchase a house now because prices are bound to increase in the future because of the high demand.
